Meditate. Connect. Reflect.

Welcome to our Yogi and Yogini's guide to Cape Town. Shanti shanti.

We hope this blog can offer you some guidance to your time here and set you in the right direction. Here we share the places and people that make this land special. For a place makes the people and a people make the place. Happy travels.

Places to Practice

Llandudno Beach

Llandudno is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, it serves as a great place to practice, being relatively quiet and offering a beautiful elemental environment. It is our home base and a special place. Come discover what makes it so special. @surfyogacommunity

The Bird-hide Yoga Deck

Visit this beautiful little location tucked in the trees up from the beach at our Llandudno Surf Camp. Out the wind and hidden away its' a peaceful place to practice. @llandudno_birdhide

SUP Cape Town Canals

Another exciting place to practice with us this season is on the water at the canals!

We are hosting weekly classes on Stand-Up Paddle boards fixed to our yoga dock, you have to check it out! @supcapetown

Teachers

Tatum Roche

A beloved teacher, friend and community leader. Tatum inspires with her beautifully curated Kundalini classes, gentle compassion and joy for life.

Having lots of experience teaching at many festivals and gatherings as well as her weekly sessions out of The Centers' studio in Noordhoek on Tuesdays 8:30 & Thursdays 18:00. You will leave tingling after the gong, your body grateful for the practice. @tateomm

Roxann Wild

One of our fantastic founders, Roxann is a powerhouse on a mission to change the world. Based in Mauritius where she grew up after spending some good years living and working in Cape Town. She is a mother of two now teaching in Tamarind Bay, building an off-grid farm and helping mostly women find a deeper connection to their bodies. Follow her journey and maybe link up at one of her retreats around the world. @roxannwild

Temples & Ashrams

Dhamma Pataka Vipassana Meditation Center

We are lucky enough to have our own Vipassana Centre here just outside of Cape Town. It is a rather beautiful setting amongst the mountains of Worcester. If you have not heard of Vipassana it is a great practice and opportunity to go within and purify. Originally founded by Buddha it is an universal meditation practice.

Basically a 10 day silent retreat with great facilitation and schedule. There's a lot of information but we can recommend that you apply by visiting the website here.

Hare Krishna Temple (ISKCON) Rondebosch & Govinda Restaurant

Another blessings in Cape Town is our own Hare Krishna Temple founded in 1986.

The Temple is a welcoming devotional space. There are many offerings at the Temple including yoga classes, daily Arati and the Sunday Love Feast.

Part of the Temple is the Govinda Restaurant, as food and the sharing of food forms a very important part of the Hare Krishna Community. The food is blessed and delicious made with love and devotion, sacred sounds.

Cafes

Nourish'd

Nourish'd is a small amazing cafe, doing big things, bringing home the message that less is more! From their nutrient dense dishes to naturally grown produce and eco-conscious packaging, they are doing the most to make a difference! Giving us the choice to eat clean and live the dream! With three of their spots to choose from in Kloof Street, Green Point and The Prom Park it's a win. We think supporting sustainability is cool. Now they even offer curated boxes for delivery not to mention their juice detox plans! Shew talk about packing a punch. Kudos! @nourishdcapetown

The Soul Surf Cafe

Find our friends as you begin to journey up the West coast. A family led, community based surf shop in Blouberg, with a vibrant little soulful cafe nestled inside.

They offer wholesome meals to get you stoked, from smoothies, fresh juices, to oat bowls, locally made sweet treats and seasonal dishes!

Keep a look out for their rad little pop up events too! @atlanticsurf_

Sentinel Ocean Alliance (SOA)

SOA is a very special space in Hout Bay! This cafe and project bridges the gap as it provides the space for connection. Frank has created a community hub where lifesaving, ocean school, surf therapy and coffee all come together.

Onsite you can find the cafe with a dynamic mix of people taking part in lots of different activities. Come grab a coffee and see it all in action! @thesentinelcafe

Hidden Gems

Veld & Sea

Veld & Sea is an amazing community run by Roushana. She embodies a slow low-impact sustainable lifestyle which is close to our hearts. One of her recent demos that we loved was a 30 day challenge of eating only farmed, foraged or traded goods. Her homestead is south on the peninsula near Cape Point and Scarborough, where she hosts foraging workshops, classes and gatherings. The local coastline is incredible in it's array of foods and medicine that can be foraged and add health to our lives. Roushana first captured our attention with her foraging tours amongst the rock pools of the cape coastline. Collecting seaweeds, mussels and flora, weaving them together in magically creative ways. We admire her work and share this same passion to use what Nature provides by moon and tide. @veldandsea

Love In A Bowl

Love In A Bowl is an amazing organic food farm in the heart of Hout Bay, it is a community project to ensure the provision of healthy, locally grown food to the most vulnerable children and elderly of our Hout Bay community. We are proudly partnered with Love In A Bowl and support their work.

They host weekly markets on Tuesdays & Thursdays where you can get great produce and meet some cool people plus the Friday Community Cook Ups we support. In this modern age it is important to remember where our food comes from and nurture the Earth-Human connection. @loveinabowlcommunity
